It's November, 1917 and the Allies finally have the German colonial forces under General Paul von Lettow-Vorbeck on the run. Vorbeck's forces are now in a fighting retreat towards the southern border with Mozambique.
After the initial pitched battles of 1914 the Schutztruppen have been fighting a largely geurilla campaign.
Your platoon of the 6th King's Afircan Rifles is ordered to investigate some ancient ruins, similar to Great Zimbabwe, on the Rovuma river on the border. The Schutztruppe could be using the site as a strongpoint, and you are to reconnoiter or capture the site as seems appropriate.
The PC's are veteran NCO's of the King's African Rifles given what appears to be fairly basic task made more complicated by the fact you have to babysit a green Lieutenant who's itching to make a name for himself on this backwater front of the war.
